"Music Maker of the Month" for August is Danny Memeo. Danny is a man of many skills. He plays guitar, sings, he writes songs, he rehabs houses, and if you find a good real estate deal he will help you find a mortgage. Danny moved to Nashville in 1995 at the tender age of 21. He wanted to break into the music business, so he attended Belmont University located at the end of "Music Row" in Nashville. Belmont has a music business program and students work as interns for all kinds of music industry companies up and down music row in Nashville. They work in recording studios, management companies, booking agencies, record companies and any other branch of the music business that can help them get a start to work in music. I met Danny when he was an intern for country music superstar Alan Jackson's management office. After Danny finished his internship he was hired full time in the management office. Danny is currently playing guitar and singing with new country artist Ashley Monroe. Danny has also worked with Josh Gracin and Julie Roberts. In 2004 Danny bought a cool old house in the Belmont/12 South neighborhood of Nashville. The old four square built in the 1920's needed some help and Danny was just the man for the job. He has been patient and methodical with the rehab of the house, fixing and remodeling when he wasn't touring and when he had the money. Danny rehabbed the whole house and added a master suite and bath upstairs in the attic. New heat and air, custom built in cabinets and great hardwood floors make his home awesome.

Where did you grow up?
Grew up in Santa Clara, CA....(South Bay area) moved to Nashville in 1995 at age 21. Nothing beats California weather and 49ers football in the 80's and 90's.
Who were your musical influences growing up?
Loved oldies, 50's & 60's...
Who / What was the first live musical performance you experienced?
Beach Boys at Candlestick park following a San Francisco Giants baseball game 1986ish..
What do you remember most about those performances?
Nothing very specific, but I remember that John Stamos was playing drums and my dad wanted to split early and beat the traffic...

So many great concerts, but my most recent great memory was seeing Crowded House at the Ryman as a guest of
Nick Seymour (the
bass player who I met the night before at the Stage, on Lower Broadway.)

Tell us how you got into show business
As a young person I escaped into music and at some point decided I wanted to work in and around it so I found Belmont University and moved to Nashville without knowing a soul.

What has been your favorite job in show business?
My most memorable gig was playing for the President at Ford’s Theater in Washington DC with Julie Roberts.
What is your favorite music venue?
I think the Ryman Auditorium in Nashville is amazing!
What is your favorite city to visit and why?
Las Angeles, California .... friends, and weather.

What are your future plans?
A). Finish up the “Dallas Palace” (Danny’s House) by adding on a breakfast room, finishing the basement and nursery and landscape the yards.
